#Gentoo xscreensaver daemon upgrade

Just don't be surprised when you will want to upgrade one little thing and it will ask you to upgrade a lot more. It's because sometimes, an older version of something is not compatible with a newer version of something else, so if you want to ugrade, you must upgrade them both, but you can also not upgrade at all if you wish. It's like you're saying that if not upgrading things break, it's because Gentoo does not want to give you the choice of uprgading or not. Not because Gentoo said "thou shalt upgrade yer nvidia drivers", but simply because the old ones were not compatible with it. For example, when Xorg 7.3 was released and I upgraded it from 7.2, I also had to upgrade my nvidia drivers.

I guess that if Gentoo is about choices, then it would be about choice to update or not for any reason you would have to, no? I usually do my upgrades as soon as they're available, just because I see no reason not to, but I don't think not doing them breaks thigs, as long as you do them properly when you decide to.
